Remove the pen barrels and the mandrel from the lathe.
Put the Jacobs Chuck in its place.
Put the pen-mill in the chuck and tighten.
This where a second lathe comes in handy. We could also use the drill-press.
Slide a 7mm brass pen tube over the "pilot" rod of the pen-mill
Slide a drilled pen blank over the brass tube and trim one end. Do not trim more than just enough to make it flat.
I am using the plastic pen blank, "Apache Gold", from "Hut Products".
There are many other plastic pen blanks available is all colors, including "jet black" and "white". I chose this one because I had several pieces of it on hand.
Run a bead of "Medium" CA glue around the wood and the brass tube.
Spritz the trimmed end of the plastic blank with CA Accelerator.
Slide the plastic on the end of the tube and hold tightly in place for a couple minutes.
I hope the fit was checked before trying to glue them together. Now is not the time to discover that they don't fit.
Saw through the plastis blank about 1/8" past the end of the brass tube.
Use a piece of scrap wood as a carrier to span the opening in the saw table.
