small lidded boxes for jewelry and keepsakes
These are a small 4" turned lidded box with a whimsical finial. I made these for years with a plain top, but added the finial to spice them up a bit. I make these finials because they are different from the traditional straight series of beads and coves that everyone else puts on the top of a lidded box or hollowform. No two of them are alike because their shape is a reflection of my mood at the time, and how far I can go without it breaking.

All boxed have a 3" mirror in their lid, as shown in the inset.
a "Black Walnut Box"
This lidded box is Walnut wood that has beed darkened with black dye. It appears as a dark bnrown in the photograph because of the bighter light. It will appear as "black" in most indoor lighting. The finial is a piece of Maple, and the box is finished inside with Gold Gilt.
a "Claro Walnut Box"

This box has the unique grain patterns that are formed at the graft area of an Engligh Walnut tree to its Claro Walnut roots. It has a natural oil finish that accents the grain pattern and coloring. The finial is from Maple.
